Hello, wonderful readers! 🌞 Today, we’re sharing our adventure with our beloved Burtie on a Widnes road trip to see Grandma and Grandpa. As you know, there’s never a dull moment when Burtie’s around, and this trip was no exception.
Widnes Road Trip to See Grandma and Grandpa
The day started at home with a sulky Burtie who was clearly not thrilled about the heat and an early start!. With the engine running and a new dog seat on loan from a lovely lady named Fiona (or Ffion, in the Welsh way), we set off to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Widnes.
I was looking forward to trying out the sturdy booster seat for dogs that locks that into the seat-belt. Burt can sleep comfortably and is high enough to see out of the windows. The attachment onto Burt’s harness was too short, so some creative adaptations were needed. Burtie, ever the trooper, was secure and happy, ready for our journey.
(As a side note – we like this car seat and will review it properly in a future post. Click here to check out the current availability on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.)
Exploring Runcorn Heath Park
Before we arrived home in Widnes, we stopped for a walk at a picturesque park in Runcorn. The park was bustling with activity on the playing fields filled with football games and people around the charming duck pond.
Burtie stretched his legs while we took in the beautiful scenery. We even met some elderly little doggies with their dog walker! It’s always wonderful to see Burtie making new friends and exploring new sights.
Of course Burt didn’t let us down and threw his famous position!

Creation of the Quirky Burtie YouTube Channel
Before our Widnes road trip adventure truly began, Burtie and I had an exciting task…
Burt helped our dear friend Jan set up the Quirky Burtie YouTube channel! Burt’s diving into the world of vlogging, sharing our experiences and adventures with the world. Burtie, being the social media savvy pup that he is, was a great help. However, at one point, Burt started snoring even though he wasn’t asleep.
Jan’s dog, Muppet, clearly was unimpressed with the excitement of a new YouTube channel. With Burt’s help Jan managed to get the channel up and running smoothly.
It would be great if you could help us reach our subscriber goal! Subscribe to our YouTube channel here (it costs nothing!)

Mum has a New Walker!
On a personal note, I’ve recently acquired a new walker that has been a game-changer. Previously, I was stooped over with a stick, but now I can stand upright and walk with ease.
We found this walker gathering dust in Mum and Dad’s garage. It has been scrubbed clean by my brother and is now as good as new. It’s lightweight, has brakes, and even serves as a poo holder—truly amazing!

Rescued from the garage – the walker, not me!
Nostalgia at Victoria Park Widnes
Our Widnes road trip adventure took us to Victoria Park. It’s a place filled with childhood memories. The park features a bandstand, bowling greens, a dog park, a pond, a café, and a big children’s play area. It’s a lovely spot for an evening walk, especially with the sun setting slowly and casting a golden glow over everything.
We had a delightful encounter with some Yorkshire Terriers—Molly, Morris, and Winston. Burtie behaved wonderfully, and it was a joy to see all the pups getting along. I tried to capture the moment on video, but in typical fashion, I forgot to press the play button! Oh well, the memories are still precious.

Final Thoughts
It’s days like these that remind me of the simple joys of life: a walk in the park, the company of a beloved pet, and the kindness of strangers. Burtie continues to bring so much happiness and adventure into our lives, and we’re grateful for every moment.

Video Transcript
In this episode It’s All About Burt’s road trip and his test drive in a dog box is a car seat and the Link’s in the description. Burt’s also created his YouTube channel and we’ve been visiting some local parks. I’d really love it if you could like and subscribe. It really helps when I’m doing these videos. Thanks very much! See you later.
Burty, are you sulking already? There you go. Now, where are we going? Are we going to see Grandma and Grandpa? Yeah, that’s going to be lovely, isn’t it?
Oh, let’s switch this engine on because it’s getting hot. We’ve not even set off yet. Glorious day! I’ve got a new dog bed; it’s just on loan from a lady I met on here. Her name is Fiona, but it’s pronounced the Welsh way, so it could be Ffion. She was on the Jack Russell obedience team at Crufts, and they won! I was really excited to meet her.
She lent me this sturdy dog bed that locks into the seatbelt. However, the attachment for it is too short, so I had to adapt it. Anyway, it’s not secured as it should be, but it’s rock solid. Burtie is secure and happy. We’ll test drive the dog seat today and I’m sure it’ll be fantastic.
So, we arrived in a place called Runcorn. We’ve just come up to this park where Burt can stretch his legs and I can stretch mine. It’s very popular with playing fields at the back. What are you doing, Burtie? Come back here, there’s some Chihuahuas coming by. This is a really nice park to walk around with a lovely duck pond. We also met some elderly little doggies with a dog walker. They were really sweet.
Burtie, what are you doing?
He’s snoring even though he’s not asleep.
Jan is very busy and doesn’t have the time to stroke you, so can you just stop sulking?
He’s settled himself down the back and is doing a bit of heavy breathing.
Yes, she’s busy. Just sit down nicely and relax. He’s just staring me out now. Hey, Mups! Hello, Muppy! Hello, Muppet! Burt’s face got the hump now, got the hump because I’m stroking Mups. Burtie, she’s busy.
Well, everybody, I’ve got myself a walker and I am walking so much better. I’m more upright because before I was stooped with a stick. I’ve test-walked some walkers, and now I have one. This one was in Mum and Dad’s garage, and my brother gave it a good scrub.
Woohoo!
The key is to stand upright and walk, and I can do that now. If you’ve seen me on the videos, you’ve seen the difference. This walker is lightweight and has brakes. I can sit down, and it’s also a poo holder. Amazing! I can stand and let it off, and away we go. Goodbye, see you later!
Here’s the Runcorn Bridge that we traveled over to get to Grandma and Grandpa’s. This is Victoria Park in Widnes. It’s my childhood park where I used to hang out as a kid. Another lovely place to go with a bandstand that has lots of activities in the summer. There are bowling greens too. Just out for an evening walk in our local park here in Widnes, Cheshire.
These council parks have a bandstand, playing areas, a dog park, a pond, a café, and a big children’s play area. It’s a very pleasant evening. The sun’s starting to set slowly. We just spotted a doggy, so we’re going to go before Burtie kicks off.
Well, Burtie, we just met those little Yorkshire Terriers. Was it Molly, Morris, and Winston? Molly was the boss, of course. I did a nice little video of them all sat in the pram, and it was lovely. You were good, and we asked the names and how all the doggies were, but I didn’t press the play button. Typical of me, isn’t it? Anyway, we’re still having a nice time at the park. It’s a beautiful afternoon with the courting pigeons, and Burt’s just about to wrap himself around the tree.
