As someone who lives with the daily challenges of psoriatic arthritis, I know all too well about the aches and the overwhelming urge to just curl up on the sofa.

But, you know what?

Amidst this journey, which often feels like a relentless rollercoaster, I’ve got my steadfast companion, Burt, my cheeky Jack Russell. He’s more than just a pet; he’s my little bundle of motivation, love, and joy.

Let’s delve into how having a dog like Burt can be a heartwarming and therapeutic part of life when you’re dealing with something like psoriatic arthritis.

The Unwavering Support of Our Four-Legged Friends

Burt is more than just a Jack Russell dog; he’s a sensitive soul who’s been my rock through the ups and downs of living with a chronic illness. His wagging tail and mischievous eyes bring a smile to my face, even on the toughest days.

Psoriatic Arthritis and the Importance of Staying Active

Anyone who lives with psoriatic arthritis knows the drill: joint pain, stiffness, and the temptation to just stay indoors. But, keeping active is key, and this is where Burt’s role in my life is a godsend. He’s my little reminder that a bit of fresh air and a stroll can do wonders.

Daily Walks With Burt The Jack Russell: A Lifeline

Every day, Burt and I venture out for our walks, and here’s why it’s a game-changer for both of us:

Physical Activity: Our gentle strolls are perfect for keeping my joints mobile and muscles strong, without being too harsh.

Emotional Well-being: Burt’s company is my antidote to loneliness. His unending affection reminds me that I’m not alone in this.

Nature’s Beauty: On our walks, I often pause to snap pictures of beautiful flowers. It’s my moment of peace, a brief escape from the pain and challenges.

Coping with Medications

Dealing with psoriatic arthritis means facing the daunting world of medications. I won’t lie; sometimes the nausea hits hard, but it’s a part of my journey I’ve learned to embrace.

The Power of Alternative Therapies

I’m not just about pills and doctors’ visits. As a reiki practitioner and a sound fork therapy practitioner, I find solace in these alternative therapies. They help not just me but Burt too! We share moments of healing and relaxation that deepen our bond.

A Wish for New Knees

Wrapping up, I sometimes find myself wishing for new knees, dreaming of a day when I can walk without pain. I’m looking forward to a new appointment in the New Year which is great news. But until then, I have Burt, my little warrior, by my side.
